As the new term begins, the LD team welcomes several new members to its ranks and others moving into new positions. In APO LEADS, Keegan Daley takes over the role of APO LEADS Coordinator and Scott Adams will take over for Keegan as LAUNCH Coordinator. Special thanks goes out to Scott Meritts who steps down as APO LEADS Coordinator. However, he has agreed to stay on as Explore Coordinator. Also, Corbett Z. is retiring as Discover Coordinator, so Caroline Sheehan will take over. These changes became effective on February 15th.
Joining Blondie Barnes, our Presenter Development & Training Coordinator, brings in two new people: W.Jason Strutz, who will be the Central Area Training Coordinator and Christina Tran the Western Area Training Coordinator. Mike Francis remains as Southern Area Training Coordinator and Chuck Brace as the Northeast Area Training Coordinator.
In APO IMPACT, Irene Wolf is taking over the program from Rich Koval, who has a new role on Region II staff. We wish him the best of luck in his new role.

APO LEADS Updates
Meet the Team
As this year, begins we welcome several new Coordinators in APO LEADS. The change-over occurred on 15 February and the new Coordinators are doing an excellent job of getting up to speed.
As part of setting SMARTER goals in APO LEADS and determining future staffing needs, we have set the following program goals:
1. All Pledges should complete Launch as part of their Pledge Education Program in addition to Chapter requirements.
2. All Section, Region, and National Conferences should host an Explore Course.
3. All Members of Alpha Phi Omega should complete Achieve and Discover before they graduate college.
4. 10% of Active Members should attend Serve before they graduate college.
Based on these goals and an analysis of previous years’ cancellations we are actively working with Training & Development to get more trainers in more areas. Ideally, we would like to see at least one APO LEADS Presenter at each Chapter and at least one Observer in each Section. Anyone interested in becoming an APO LEADS Presenter should complete the following form: http://bit.ly/Presenterinterestform

Presenter Center
Did you know that APO also stands for A Personal Odyssey? That’s what Alpha Phi Omega is all about: A Personal Odyssey of Leadership Development. A fraternity presenter is a Brother who has made the commitment to learn how to best convey the content, knowledge, and learning to the members of our Fraternity. Some training is required for this role.
Anyone who is willing to work at developing oneself as a presenter can participate in our presenter development training. That will be a very easy road for some; for others, it will take a lot of work involving not only presenter development training, but also finding opportunities inside and outside of the Fraternity to practice skills.
It would be wonderful if everyone who wanted to be a presenter had the presentation and facilitation skills to do so. However, everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. Not everyone will be able to perform with the degree of excellence necessary to maintain the program at a level that will benefit the members of the Fraternity. All anyone can do is try.
Fraternity Presenters
Eligibility for Training
· Commitment to developing skills regardless of skill level at start of training.
This type of presenter is sometimes called the trained presenter, because skills have been taught or assessed. This level of training will consist of two modules: Basic Facilitation Skills and Basic Presentation Skills. They are called basic because of the commonality of the skills to all APO programs. To be a "certified presenter,” a trainee must demonstrate competence with these skills. An important point to emphasize is that anyone can go through the basic skills portion of training, regardless of membership status. Trainees prove themselves during training. Those trainees who may need to polish their skills can simply go through the necessary basic skills module until they are more comfortable. In this way, one can focus on improving his/her skills rather than being overloaded by simultaneously learning the content of a particular course.
Training courses can be taken over a period of time or in a weekend. Once a basic skills course is passed, it never needs to be retaken. Although designed to be spread out over time, there has been a trend toward combining the two basic skills courses and then a content training course in a very intense weekend. With the use of the online trainings before the practical, this is much more obtainable. Either approach is acceptable and should be based on the trainee’s learning comfort level.
